I'm wondering what orb you use Susan, would you not consider Mars is trine Venus using 8-10 deg orb?
You have touched on something which has intrigued me for so many years - the meaning of mars square North Node; skipped steps is as much as i've been able to glean from Evolutionary Astrology but not been able to apply it to what I need to be doing here this lifetime, so what you wrote has given me something to think deeply about.

I think your Mars is in a new phase, as 0 degrees of Aries is brand new. The nodal connection being connected to the 3rd/9th axis of learning, teaching, communication and travel suggests taking your own leap into those areas would be something used in service to others by using your past life knowledge. Since Mars is action, and he's a "baby" in Aries, his past knowledge is more spiritual, sensitive, self-effacing, surrendering, and compassionate coming from Pisces. But in this life, you are meant to try to use your actions for others and take the lead in your own health care. Your Mars is making a loose out of sign aspect into your T-square indicating a push to manifest, which is challenging. 8 degrees trines are not very motivating... but they are there. My orbs are about 5 for trines, but there's more important messages in the tighter aspects. I'm wondering what orb you use Susan, would you not consider Mars is trine Venus using 8-10 deg orb? I've been looking at this and using your chart which shows South Node ruler Moon in 12th conjunct Neptune would seem to confirm exactly what you are saying about the 'new' Mars path in Aries using the lessons it (I) has/have learned from past spiritual experience.
Eek haha, fascinating but daunting and thanks so much for your expertise on this Susan.
