ASSIGNMENT:
“What does your Mercury want? What would make your Mercury happy?”
INSTRUCTIONS:
The way to do this assignment is look at your Mercury, what sign is it in, what house is it in, what houses does it rule, and what aspects does it make. For example, Mercury in Virgo likes to analyze, organize, and be efficient. If this Mercury were in the 4th house, then it wants to do these things in the 4th house. This could be a Mercury that wants to organize the home, family, keep things efficient, and this makes the person feel grounded and safe. If this Mercury were in the 7th house, then a possible delineation would be that this Mercury wants to really understand their partner, analyze them, ask them lots of questions, or they are attracted to people who reflect this back to them.
Let’s say this Mercury in Virgo, in the 4th house, rules the 4th and the 1st, then the efficient home and family would be important to how the person interacts with other people and how they define themselves in their interactions with people. This Mercury would be proud of their efficiency and how they attempt to operate their home in an organized way.
What if this Mercury was conjunct Mars? This Mercury would demand they were listened to and might get angry if their home is not run the way they want. Conjunct Neptune? This Mercury could vacillate between wanting to be organized, and not really caring much about it. They might instead care more about using their home as a mental escape location to write, and create beautiful words of art. Of course, there are downsides to these placements, but for this assignment, we are looking for the most positive expression of your Mercury. We are not wanting to delineate how Mercury can cause problems. That we will save for another assignment! 😊
Happy writing!

Hi Teresa! Because Mercury is a planet that we all typically understand somewhat clearly, both what it represents astrologically and how it is working for us in our own lives -- He is so relevant in our every moment. It's also the traditional ruler of Astrology and the part of us that we use when studying the subject and trying to put it all together. He's a major player when it comes down to the noticeable differences between individuals.

So here we go. Mercury is in my second house of Scorpio which represents money, and value and snicker sex.
Am I correct in saying it rules the 8th house ?
My mercury conjuncts my moon (emotions), Neptune (dreams and healing), and my south node (materialism & greed), which obviously means it opposes my north node (Taurus).
So what would make my mercury happy is if I would express my feelings and fulfill my dreams and heal everything wrong with me and complete my karmic debt. However since it opposes my north node, it’s damn near impossible
Does that about sum it up?

Your Mercury rules the houses where Virgo and Gemini are located. For you Teresa, that means your 9th and 12th houses. Your Mercury is working from the 2nd, trying to take care of 9th and 12th house issues, along with being associated with the issues brought by the Moon, South Node, and Neptune. There are many ways to look at the nodes, so let's think of them in a more positive light. The South Node can be what gifts and talents you already possess and are meant to use while working on the new territory of the North Node. The problem with the South Node is that it's comfortable and familiar and easy to get stuck there.

Lol. That was my way of saying where do I go from here. Thanks. I’ll look further
As an aside, ironically I used to say I am the karmic lesson for greed. More recently I’ve decided I am the tool used to expose the greed and give people chances to rectify their greed. If not, then I walk away and let karma handle it. Kind of weird but really true

That's a fantastic description of your Mercury Teresa... I see Mercury in Scorpio as street smart, familiar with the darkness in the world. In the 2nd house of money, it would bring shrewdness into the description. There is also the ability to use this skill to make money, and to see through bullshit. There is much more to say about your Mercury, but I'll let you continue with the project! Good job! 😆

The assignment is for you to try and figure it out for yourself, and then bring it to the next meeting. What house system are you using? We are using whole sign for this assignment.

Mercury in Aquarius
I have a brilliant mind that combines the inspirational with the rational. I favor innovative ideas and embrace new technologies. I’m a progressive thinker and I’m open to science and technology and the latest discoveries in any field. I like to keep up with current events in world affairs. I have a strong humanitarian impulse. When I form my opinions, it is difficult for me to change them. I also have an attraction to the metaphysics.
Mercury in 7th House
I need a clever partner who entertains me with their stimulating banter. I need good verbal and intellectual interaction with anyone who I meet often. I can be often involved in verbal exchanges, interviewing, discussing, counseling, negotiating, getting and giving feedback, and sharing ideas and information. I’m drawn to intelligent and verbal people with whom I can communicate and learn from. I have a need to find a partner who I find physically attractive and who is also interesting and intellectually stimulating. I enjoy mutual communication and understanding.
Mercury sextile Uranus
My intellectual interests tend to be toward the offbeat or unusual. Anything that is innovative, experimental, creatively inspired, or new will spark my fascination. I have an instinctive grasp of esoteric sciences. I have an original, active, and inventive mind. My mind is alert, but I also need freedom to think things through. I don’t like taking orders from others. I often rely on my strong intuition. I have a need to understand myself and to accomplish my full potential. I am also eager to stimulate others in the search for a deeper meaning to life.
Mercury conjunct Moon/MC
I have the ability to adapt myself mentally and emotionally to any situation that I may encounter. I’m considerate, compassionate, and sensitive to other’s needs. People have confidence in my judgment.
Mercury conjunct Mars/Neptune
I tend to idealize my actions or situations which could lead to misguided endeavors. When I’m uncertain about my goals, I tend to stray from my original purpose and I could be disillusioned with the results.
Mercury conjunct Saturn/MC
I’m likely to concentrate on myself a lot and tend to have brooding, melancholic thoughts. I have a preference to be alone and I always make sure I have my own space.

Hey! My Natal Mercury is also in Scorpio. For Mercury in Scorpio I agree with Susan's concept of street smart but you could also use the term "free spirited". It's almost an earthy quality. I find myself curious, seeking to learn about the world around me. Mercury is posited in my 6th house, Mercury's natural house. I think one way you could read this is that I always want to keep learning and improving. Because the 6th house represents health, it could also be read as I am a very clean person, might have tendencies for perfectionism, or over activity. One way I express this is I enjoy reading almost every day, I enjoy playing guitar too. Mercury, my Sun, and Chiron all three remain in Scorpio, posited in my 6th house. My Mercury is square Jupiter and Uranus. Mercury is conjunct Sun and Chiron. Mercury is also quincunx my Ascendant. I am interested in reading deeper into these relationships! Hagan, I'm not sure how you would be getting "free-spirited" from Mercury in Scorpio, or it having an earthy quality. You may be feeling these tendencies in yourself from other factors in your chart, but Mercury in Scorpio would not resonate with those descriptions. Scorpio is in the water element, in its fixed mode, polarity is negative and feminine, ruled by Mars, and symbolized by the Scorpion. Mercury is "free-spirited" in its own nature, but under the rulership of Mars, the perspective changes. There is also a great difference between Mercury placed in the 2nd versus the 6th. Your "free-spiritedness", desire to learn, improve, and seek information Hagan comes from your Gemini Ascendant trining, pretty tightly, Jupiter conjunct Uranus in your Aquarius 9th house. Your Mercury in Scorpio is averse your Ascendant and his ruler, so you may not realize what he is about so easily. Mercury's input/output is directly a result of his trinal relationship with Jupiter/Uranus in the 9th, and that makes a big difference for your Mercury in Scorpio.

Did you send your chart information?

Please everyone, only ask questions needed for clarification on your project. Do not post your project here. The projects are to be brought to our next meeting and discussed then. I will be discussing Elements, Modes, Polarity, Mythology and Symbolism at our next meeting in order to help clarify how the signs get their meanings.

Did you send your chart information? I actually have a Personal Astrology profile that I bought from Astrology.com back in 2009 and it had those Conjunctions in my report. I also have a Personality report from Real World Astro back in 2011. That report doesn't state those Conjunctions, but it does state that my Mercury semisquare Neptune.
